Not sure about whether Smart Dolphins Chess coaching is for your school?
Listen to what some delighted school staff and students have to say!
“Smart Dolphins Chess has been conducting Chess lessons at our school since the beginning of the year. We were looking for opportunities to develop higher order thinking and problem solving skills in our students. The response to the lessons from students, parents and teachers has been overwhelmingly positive.
Students from Kindergarten to Year 6 enrolled for the lessons and their knowledge and understanding of the game of Chess and its strategies has improved dramatically. Those students who have a Visual-Spatial learning style have loved the chance to utilise their strength in visualising and strategising variations on standard moves.
Most of the students who enrolled in the ‘beginners’ class have now moved on to an advanced program and are also taking part in a lunchtime Chess Club working with students from other classes.
Students are highly engaged and motivated during the lessons and eagerly await the opportunity to demonstrate their developing skills to friends and parents. Brendan and Ron have done a fantastic job working with our students and have established a very positive and professional relationship with them.
We highly recommend Smart Dolphins Chess to any school community that wants to provide students with more varied learning experiences which cater for different learning styles and needs.”

“Ronald Scott from Smart Dolphins Chess has been tutoring our junior
school students from years 2 to 6 every Monday afternoon during term
time since the beginning of the year. He has a composed demeanour and I have found him to be patient, encouraging and clear in his instructions
to students. He provides variety in his lesson plans and his program is
clear and structured, allowing students of varying abilities to learn
the skills of chess. His is well liked by the students and parents.”-Ms E Paxinos

“A good coach would never only teach you what he’s supposed to teach.
He would always teach you more, perhaps it is in a sentence he says at the end of the lesson, it could be a quote you should remember, or it could even be an example from his own experiences.
Whatever it was, I surely learnt a lot from what Brendan had to say.”

More support of chess:
Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Jesli A. Lapus said that children exposed to chess learn faster and get better grades. He has ordered the integration of chess into the curriculum of grade school and high school students in the Philippines.
“Chess is among the activities that help build memory skills, concentration, self-confidence, self-esteem and in making disciplined decisions.”
“Playing chess provides opportunities to practice such values as perseverance, honesty, and sportsmanship,“
